Description

Slaves In Bondage is one hour and eleven minutes and was released in theaters on July 25, 1937. The movie itself, sort of plays like a fictional documentary. The movie is hard to follow as it skips around a lot and also this is not the original movie. The one that the people are watching is a copy and was duped from a 35mm print. My guess if the original is ever found then it might be easier to follow along. The film opens with Mary Lou escaping from a prostitution ring and being found by three men driving sometimes later. Later in the story it is found out that Madame Belle Harris is using her Beauty Salon as a recruitment station for unsuspecting ladies to turn them into prostitutes. The leading lady, Dona Lee, figures something is wrong but cannot put her finger on it. In the meantime her boyfriend is framed for carrying marked money and is arrested. After this it was hard to follow along and in the end the police and newspaper editor figures out what is going and brings the bad guys to justice.
